Shands Arts in Medicine holds its first Art in the Garden performance at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 3. The Scrub Hillbillies, an old-time guitar duet, will play for free at Wilmot Gardens off Mowry Road and North-South Drive near the Shands campus. The performance series is part of a community-based effort to restore the gardens. In 2006, The Dean of Medicine at the University of Florida pledged to beautify the once-overgrown area as a quiet sanctuary for Shands patients and visitors. You can see the new plans at the concert tomorrow.

At 6 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 3), Alachua County Public Libraries will show the documentary “Orwell Rolls in His Grave” in the downtown library at 401 E. University Ave. for free. No partners necessary! Be at the Student Recreation and Fitness Center (265 Fletcher Drive) at 8:30 if you’re a beginner and 9:15 if you have some experience.
